The Pumpernickel Heads to Europe

Sorry for the delayed posts, darlings. The Pumpernickel has been a busy bee these past few days.

I've been wrapped up in my upcoming European plans. Yep, I'm headed abroad again. This time, I'll be making four stops: Stockholm, Sweden; Paris, France; Prague, Czech Republic; and Vienna, Austria.

I depart March 19th and return April 5th. Be on the lookout for interesting articles and photographs from my trip. I'm ecstatic, and have been completely absorbed in the planning of my trip.

Are you familiar with any of these cities? If so, I'd love to hear your itinerary suggestions. I'm an adventurous soul, and open to pretty much anything.

So, what should I do in Europe?

Chains on tires? Holy crap.

Is your car getting stuck on still slick and icy roads? Automotive dysfunction got you down? Well, all you need is a handy-dandy pair of tire chains! Like the ones your local fireman has:

Holy smokes. Thems what we call some serious accessories.

Behold, Washington, the latest step in DC's journey toward becoming permanently winter-ified!

If you own a car in the District, you've undoubtedly encountered your share of trouble on streets that remain inexplicably icy, despite the public outcry that something, for the love of all that is holy, be done about it.

Not having any trouble of this sort are the fine folks at Engine Company 21, whose ride has been outfitted with the above medieval-looking-if-not-for-the-fact-it's-on-a-firetruck contraption.

Maybe this sort of thing is commonplace in snowier places, like Minnesota or, I don't know, the tundra, but we DC folk are not used to needing tire chains to get around. For pete's sake, DC. Get it together!
